Hammers in my Name
My last name, Martelli, means hammers in Italian. So you could say giving back through Habitat for Humanity was practically written into my heritage. The hammer in this photo isn't a prop. Each year, I join my colleagues on the Greater Nashville REALTORS® Habitat build, which is part of a 30-year partnership between our REALTOR® community and Habitat that is completing its 30th home in Middle Tennessee. There's no better way to spend a workday than helping a Nashville family move toward the keys to their own front door.
My Commitment
As a real estate professional, I believe homeownership is one of the most powerful forces for stability, generational wealth, and stronger neighborhoods. That's why 1% of my earnings from every closing goes directly to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville — in addition to the time I give on the build site each year.

For 40 years, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Nashville has helped hardworking Middle Tennessee families achieve something most of us take for granted: a home of their own. Since 1985, they've built or renovated nearly 1,000 affordable homes across Davidson, Wilson, Cheatham, Dickson, and Robertson counties — serving more than 3,400 family members, over 2,100 of them children.
What sets Habitat apart is the model. Qualifying families purchase their homes with 0% interest mortgages and earn that opportunity through 100 hours of homeownership education and 70 hours of sweat equity on the build site, working alongside the very volunteers helping raise their walls. Every Habitat home is ENERGY STAR certified — Habitat of Greater Nashville has won the EPA's Sustained Excellence in Affordable Housing award 14 years running — which keeps utility bills affordable long after move-in day. And 85 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to the mission.
The need is real: a recent fall build received 2,000 applications for just 16 home openings. Let’s meet that need right here at home!
